Maharlika Speech – Climate Change Commission 16th Annual Global Warming & Climate Change Consciousness Week

Catherine Limbo, Managing Director

Mabuhay everyone and thank you for your attendance today.

Maharlika Carbon was publicly launched at the COP26 IETA stand in Glasgow, United Kingdom with the aim of building the Environmental Markets under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement to financially and environmental include everyone across the Philippines. Just two years later as Managing Director of Maharlika Carbon, I am ardently grateful and very humbled to be in the presence of our esteemed colleagues from the Philippine Climate Change Commission, in particular Vice Chairperson and Executive Director, Robert Borje and Deputy Executive Director Romell Cuenca. (add the congressman Salceda if he is in attendance)

As we all know, it takes a village and hence all of us at Maharlika Carbon would like to give a huge appreciation to the entire team from the Philippine Climate Change Commission for their hard work and dedication in the build-up to realizing and culminating the 16th Annual Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week, as well as the preparation and signing of this historic Memorandum of Understanding between the Climate Change Commission and Maharlika Carbon. Thank you to everyone involved.

Maharlika Carbon is very proud of our partnership with the Philippine Climate Change Commission, a partnership that we are certain will form the foundations of a strong and resilient future for the Philippines as a nation, as well as a community coming together to combat the great challenges ahead in the fight against climate change. Together with the Climate Change Commission, we will help provide The Philippines and its people with the technology, methodology, funding and mechanisms needed to ensure a resilient economy and robust environmental and financial ecosystem strong enough to support the needs of today, as well as to ensure the future for the Filipinos in the years to come.

On the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding Maharlika Carbon working together with the Philippine Climate Change Commission have established an Article 6 of The Paris Agreement Meta- Registry attached to Kana, our Environmental Infrastructure Platform democratizing and digitalizing Nature Based Solutions and Natural Capital making sure that the benefits of environmental projects developed in the Philippines will remain within the Philippines and enabling the achievement of the Philippines National Determined Contributions under the UNFCCC enabling the Philippines Climate Change Commission and all Filipinos to benefit in the trade of ITMOs.

Maharlika Carbon on launching with the Climate Change Commission will create a world first Environmental Market Infrastructure Platform to drive the Environmental Markets under Article 6 of The Paris Agreement, ensuring that all in the Philippines will have access to global investors in Natural Capital to help support the financing and development of environmental projects in the Philippines, protecting the long term environmental and socio-economic security and future of every person in the Philippines.

Projects in the fields of Regenerative Agriculture, Agro-Forestry, Sustainable and Regenerative Aquaculture and Marine, along with the development of a green hydrogen economy, plus many more will form the bedrock of a resilient Philippine nation to ensure we as a people can enjoy, and participate in the beautiful bounties of our natural environments whilst decarbonizing our country for the many generations to come.

We as Filipinos all share the same land, ocean, and climate.

I thank you all for your confidence in Maharlika Carbon. We look forward to the future challenges and sharing in the achievements to come. Together we are all stronger as one staying true to the Bayanihan spirit.

Thank you, Catherine...
